Church Planting Model: The Underground Church

Three Phase Approach:

  1. Home Bible Study

  2. Church Plant With Coaching

  3. An Independent Church


Phase I – Home Bible Study with a Mission

Acts 2:46–47 (NASB95) — Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

  1. Initiate a Home Bible Study

  2. Tell Friends About Your Passion for Jesus

  3. Ask Friends to Join You for Six Weeks on One of the Following MHM Studies:

    • Genesis

    • Prophecy Series

    • The Book of Acts

 

Phase II – Church Plant with Coaching

Hebrews 10:23–25 (NASB95) — Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

  1. Gather – Commit to gather in your home Sunday morning each week

  2. Give – Start giving to MHM weekly (these funds will be used to help bring your leaders and others to our events, cover events and training and staffing at MHM to help you and others follow Jesus)

  3. Go – Key leaders or whole church attend a four-day event

  4. Graft – Commit to:

  • Doctrinal Statement

  • Name and Bylaws to be Used in the Future

  • Working Agreement with MHM

  • Follow the Acts 2:42 Model

  • Use the MHM Curriculum of Study

  • Key Leader Joins the Weekly One-Hour Zoom Huddle with MHM Staff

  • Send Key Leaders One Weekend a Year to Our Training

 

Phase III – An Independent Church

Titus 1:5 (NASB95) — For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you…”

  1. Seek a Lead Pastor

  2. Appoint Elders

  3. Develop Facilities as Needed
